About Us

Our Mission
The Shared Crossing Project’s mission is to raise awareness and educate people about the profound and healing experiences available to the dying and their loved ones. We prepare people for a conscious, connected, and loving end-of-life experience at any stage of life.

Who We Are and What We Do
In 2011, William Peters, a licensed marriage and family therapist, founded the Shared Crossing Project (SCP). The SCP offers education and counseling for individuals and families interested in understanding death as a profound psycho-spiritual experience and preparing for a conscious, connected, and loving end-of-life experience.  The SCP offers a variety of groups, workshops, and trainings in Santa Barbara, California.  It also provides individual support to families facing an imminent death. Learn About Our Programs.

The Shared Crossing Pathway Program teaches protocols for facilitating shared crossings, including Shared Death Experiences. Through supportive experiential groups and individual and family consultations, participants in the Shared Crossing Project’s programs come to deepen their relationships with loved ones as they prepare for a more conscious death-and-dying experience. This preparation also helps individuals at any stage of life to be ready for death, because none of us truly know how much time we have left. By understanding and preparing for death, we free ourselves to live our lives fully and with renewed purpose.

Our Vision
We envision a world where death is honored as a natural part of life and where people embrace dying as one of life’s greatest mysteries.

Our Values
Human Development: We trust in the human capacity to grow and change in harmony with the cycle of life and death.
